The National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators has many great resources for educators to further teacher professional development. There is a list of books written by NAECTE members that include topics such as global migration, teaching in a digital world, best practices for emergent readers, and discipline. The website also contains a journal that publishes original manuscripts, reviews, and information about association activities. The purpose of the journal is to provide a forum for consideration of issues and for exchange of information and ideas about research and practice in early childhood teacher education.
The journal, however, can only be accessed by paid members and the e-newsletters focus mainly on NAECTE membership. There is a link located on the website that contains related organizations. So I chose to look into the website for the NAEYC. The National Association for the Education of Young Children has more articles that can be read without membership. I looked into an article that discussed the importance of bringing humor into the classroom. I thought this article was particularly interesting because so often teachers look at teaching as all business, but it is important to have fun with the children at let them see you having fun. Enjoying learning at an early age is the beginning of a lifelong love of learning.
There are also many articles located on the NAEYC website that support the ideas of economists, neuroscientists, and politicians. I look forward to exploring the NAEYC website further since I have not had much luck finding articles on the NEACTE website that I can actually view.
