I have really enjoyed speaking with my
international contacts, this assignment has given me a great excuse
to catch up with a distant relative who lives over seas and catch up
with a roommate whom I had not spoken with in quite awhile. I am now
aware of some of the extreme differences that exist in early
education in various places around the world. Listening to my friend
speak of her experiences in the Dominican Republic has made me
realize how fortunate we are in the United States even though our
nation continues to struggle to provide universal early childhood
education for all. Learning about the international early childhood
field is important to the understanding of the differences and
similarities in education throughout the world. One can glean
information from international sources that may change the face of
current early care and education for the better of our nation's
children. I hope to continue these contacts and even begin to form
communication with more early education professionals in other parts
of the world.
Alicia,
ReplyDeleteI like what you said "One can gain information from international sources that may change the face of current early care and education for the better of our nation's children". Some people think that if they don't exprence the problem first hand its often not a problem. This is not the correct answer we need to take positive action to ensure that problems make by others in the past or issues learned in other parts of the world are corrected before they become major problems today.
Examples immunizations not being up to date have caused disease and infections that were once thought to be erraticated and no longer a problem are know back and speading.
