Sharing Web Resources

Many of the articles located on the NAEYC website have important words highlighted that bring you to articles that further explain the key word.  This is an interesting feature that allows you to hone in on one specific topic.  A site of particular interest to me that I was lead to after reading an article about fostering children’s mental health, SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) focuses on helping children deal with traumatic events.  The NAEYC website also offers information that is pertinent to the understanding of equity and excellence in early care and education.  Articles that include information on family engagement and involvement, mental health and teaching to the unique needs of young children address concerns for equity in early care and education.  Other areas of the website offer professional development opportunities to educators.

  1. Alicia,
I really enjoy spending time on the NAEYC site. They do have tons of great information! I even went to the professional development conference last year! It was one of the best I have ever been to. Thanks for heads up about the children's mental health article. I will be checking it out!

  2. I, too, spend a great deal of time on the NAEYC website. That is a really neat feature on the site. I think there are times that teachers I have worked with want to gain more knowledge and information and sometimes when they seek the information they do not understand or get more confused. It's important that they get the facts and understand them. Way to go NAEYC. They have it figured out. I have attended NAEYC conferences in the past and am looking forward to going again in June. Thanks for the information on this site.
