Effective Communication

“An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”
Mahatma Gandhi, The Story of My Experiments With Truth

There are often disagreements between colleagues and I.  It is difficult because they are both my friends and colleagues.  When we discuss varying ideas pertaining to academic instruction discussions may become heated.  The focus, however, of the discussions are the children.  I think we all take time to listen to each other in order to understand what the other person is saying.  Pausing to internalize the information is also key during conflict.  It allows all parties to digest what has been said.  Respect within the group is integral to the success of a positive outcome.  We all must respect and validate each others thoughts and ideas in order compromise and create a solution that will benefit the academic achievement of our students.
